Winter Blues…and greens, yellows, reds… (text by Maria Baum)

Are the winter blues getting you down? When the days become short and the weather persists with rain and gray skies, everyone is in need of some vibrant color, fresh design and creative art.

The Mills International Center, the Cultural Forum and the International Cultural Service Program at the University of Oregon will put on the 2010 Art Show, “Winter Blues…and greens, yellows, reds….” The opening ceremony will be Jan. 22nd 2010 from 6:30-9 p.m. and will showcase artwork from seven artists with varying techniques and backgrounds. The works displayed by the diverse artists all work to provide bright and visually stimulating images during the cold and dreary winter months.

The 2010 Art Show invites both the students and Eugene Community to come and enjoy refreshments, performing artists and their artworks all while participating in a fun and culturally diverse event. After the opening ceremony the featured artwork will then be on display in the EMU Buzz Café and in the Mills Center for viewing.

The Mills Center also plans to hold several events as part of the art show in hopes to stimulate both community and student involvement. For more information please contact the Mills International Center at  (541) 346-0887 or exhibit curator Kelly Tavares
