Building an Evaluation Protocol for Democratic Practices
Juventud FACETA is a program at the Amigos Multicultural Services Center (AMSC) non-profit organization. It is an example of a cultural organization which main mission is based on democratic practices for empowerment. Their focus is on human rights advocacy and leadership training for Latino Youth.
Workshop Description:
The workshop is designed to introduce individuals to the empowerment evaluation approach. The goal is to review criteria, standards, and methods to measure democratic practices in management and education at Juventud FACETA and to gather input on its evaluation plan. The course is free for those who are/want to get involved with Juventud FACETA and it has 10 vacancies. Non-members of the organization are welcome to participate in this workshop knowing that this is a process to design the evaluation protocol of Juventud FACETA.

For whom:
Juventud FACETA participants and alumni.
Members of non-profit organizations with interest on empowerment evaluation.
The course is open to the general public under a $20. fee.
Workshop objectives:
Develop the evaluation plan to maximize democratic practices at Juventud FACETA.
Provide youth with a professional development opportunity to learn skills related to program evaluation.
Encourage youth to take learn about evaluation planning and implementation as a premise of an empowering evaluation approach.
When: June 27 to July 1   Duration: 4 or 5 days    Time: 9 am -12 pm    Total hours: 12
For Juventud FACETA members there might be a follow up meeting of 1 day to review the evaluation plan and discuss final arrangements.
The workshop would consist of discussions and practices involving the following topics:
Discussions about democratic practices in management and empowerment;
How to build an empowerment evaluation?
How to build a logic model?
How to collect data and make surveys?
Discuss evaluation plan, implementation, data analysis, reporting results, meta evaluation.
We will need your special help to plan one activity for each day. The goal is to create moments of relaxation and informal activity that can take around 20 minutes of our workshop. It can be a creative fun activity involving body movement, games, art, meditation etc. It’s your chance to facilitate this part with your peers!
Suggestion: How can you do that?
Come prepared with an activity in mind or an outline of your idea to share on our first meeting. Then, based on the ideas we have we may select each one for a different day. Please let me know in advance if you will need any supplies such as art supplies for arts and crafts activities, I have some that I can provide!
The course will offer:
A certificate of conclusion for participants.
Photocopies for a basic instructional packet and JF’s drafted evaluation plan.
