Mirante Dona Marta Viewpoint: Many ways to get there!

An exciting thing about Rio de Janeiro is the variety of experiences the city offer to locals and visitors and the alternative ways to live these experiences depending on what you want to get out of that.


Situated 364 meters above sea level, the view from Dona Marta Viewpoint is as impressive as the neighboring viewpoint of Christ the Redeemer Statue. It’s one of the most beautiful views of Rio de Janeiro, close to one of its highest peak at the Corcovado Mountain. With its privileged geographical position, it has a detailed look of the Marvelous City. incredible scenery as Urca, Botafogo and Flamengo beaches, Sugar Loaf, Maracana, Christ the Redeemer Statue and the Bay of Guanabara, are revealed from the top of Dona Marta lookout.

The place has a big parking lot accessible throughout the week, but with restricted operation due to COVID-19 restrictive measures. Also, there a guard at the parking booth and viewpoint from 8 to 5pm.


How to get there


With public transport

From the south zone take transport that go to the neighborhoods of Cosme Velho and Santa Tereza (Rua Almirante Alexandrino). From there it is only possible to follow by private transport, on foot or by bike.


By the north and west the option is alto da Boa Vista (Rua Amado Nervo). From there it is also only possible to follow by private transport, on foot or by bike.


By car

Through the south side the accesses are made by the neighborhoods Cosme Velho and Santa Tereza (Rua Almirante Alexandrino). By the north and west the option is alto da Boa Vista (Rua Amado Nervo).


On foot

Trekking

An alternative way to do it is through the hidden trail inside the forest. For this hike we recommend you book a walk with one of our guides @rioencantos and take advantage of a nice inside perspective of the Tijuca Forest.
