Carnaval Brasil!

Marketing and Event Coordinator, Carnaval Brasil! Fundraiser event for SHSKI, Eugene, OR         2010-2012

I coordinated the public relations and marketing plan for the SHSKI (Students Helping Street Kids International) fundraiser event in a collaboration with Jessica Zapata from Eugene Arte Latino.

We helped to raise $1500- $2600 in 2011-2012 respectively.

I designed publicity pieces (poster, flyers, newsletter) for the event.

Check here the pictures from Carnaval Brasil 2012!

Macaco Velho Macaco Velho, “Old Monkey” in portuguese, is an eight piece band which has been playing brazilian music in and around Eugene, Oregon since 2003. The band features the dynamic Brazilian singer Heliane Ferreira Pinto, three horns, three percussionists, accordion, guitar and bass. Brazil is very rich in musical genres, and Macaco Velho is interested in playing as many of them as possible. Their performances are filled with samba and forró, a very danceable accordion-based music from Brazil’s northeast. From the Northeast, they also bring the up-tempo horn-based frevo and rhythmic maracatu. Lambada, choro and milonga also appear in their performances.

Samba Já Samba Já is Eugene’s own bateria – a 30 member mobile percussion ensemble. They specialize in playing wild, funky, infectious, and incredibly danceable street music from all over Brazil and the Americas, from the sounds of Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro to original adaptations of old-school hip hop. Diverse, playful, and innovative, Samba Já just celebrated its 10th birthday.
